1 dead after planes collide mid-air over Ottawa

The pilot of a small aircraft is dead after crashing in a field outside Ottawa following a mid-air collision with another plane.

A smaller aircraft has crashed in a field, killing the pilot, while the larger one was redirected for landing.

The second plane was diverted to the Ottawa Airport and landed safely between 10:30 and 10:45.

Police and paramedics are on scene.

Deschamps said no one in the other plane was reported to have injuries. Ms. Harvey said the NTSB will be looking at the people involved, the two aircrafts and the weather as potential contributing factors.

Although Harry Kane is the current England captain, he will give the armband over to Rooney for the special occasion. The Wembley Arch will be lit up in the gold colours of Rooney's charity.


It remains unknown how many passengers total were on both planes.

Witnesses told CTV's Mike Arsalides the occupants of the plane that landed at the Ottawa Airport were a father and son. The aircraft sustained minor damage.

Police have closed a section of McGee Side Road between the 417 westbound offramp and William Mooney Road. Ottawa paramedics quickly arrived on the scene.

"The Transportation Safety Bureau has been engaged on this incident and will be taking carriage of the investigation".
