The game will be set between the events of Diablo II and Diablo III and promises to fill in numerous gaps in the series' complex lore.

The announcement is Diablo: Immortal which isn't a sequel to Diablo 3 but instead takes place during the events of Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction and the beginning of Diablo 3. After months and months of rumours, speculation, and a bit of expectation dampening from Blizzard itself, Diablo Immortal was officially announced. The Archangel Tyrael is believed to be dead, while the Worldstone has been shattered into various fragments. Power that Diablo's minions hope to harness to bring about the return of the Lord of Terror.

A couple of days ago, a data miner on Reddit found several references inside the code of Diablo 3 on Switch that seemed to suggest new custom amiibo would be released for the game.
