Babar's series aggregate of 163 runs with a strike-rate of 117.26 helped him leapfrog Australia captain Aaron Finch, who managed just four runs in three matches, Lokesh Rahul of India and New Zealand's Colin Munro to the top.

"We're fortunate that Ajaz has been playing over here for the past month and playing well", said Stead.

"It's no secret that spin is crucial in this part of the world and with the wickets on the slower side, we've taken the option of a second spinner to bring our squad up to 14-players", Stead told the ICC. Corey Anderson and Glenn Phillips were also added to the squad previously after the T20s against Pakistan A.

He was adjudged last year's Domestic Player of the Year and was a vital member of the Central Stags team that won their first Plunket Shield title in five years.
