The HTC Exodus already has a competitor in its niche category, with Swiss startup Sirin Labs expected to release its own $1,000 blockchain smartphone Finney - to be manufactured by iPhone-maker Foxconn - before the end of the year. There's also a 3,500mAh battery to keep things ticking along and all the connectivity measures you'd expect of a £700 smartphone. "With Exodus, HTC aims to be a general blockchain asset marketplace".

As for the pricing, the HTC Exodus 1 comes with a pre-order price of $960, but you can not purchase it using your local currency or your payment cards. In the true spirit of the blockchain, you can only purchase the Exodus using either Bitcoin or Ethereum.

HTC has officially announced the early access release of Exodus 1, the company's first-ever blockchain phone. "The HTC EXODUS 1 is about getting the consumer used to owning their own keys and going from there to develop the EXODUS into a device that can be for the broader market".

United Kingdom might need to seek a short extension to Brexit transition: May
Thousands of protesters took to the streets of London over the weekend in support of the vote on the Brexit deal. An estimated 700,000 protesters, led by young voters, marched through London on Saturday.

Aside from the Exodus 1's crypto credentials, HTC has also made it into a reasonably powerful phone in its own right.

Coming to the specs sheet, the handset will come with 6-Inch touch screen Quad HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. This phone also features Social Key Recovery, which sends pieces of a code to trusted contacts - these pieces when combined become a key to open a lock. This phone also functions as a hardware wallet for cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin or Ethereum. The phone can be purchased via the early access program at this link and will be available in 34 countries including the US. Under the hood, we can find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.

On the back is a pair of cameras: "12MP + 16MP main camera with high quality zoom" and the front has a pair of cameras as well: "8MP+8MP dual front camera with natural Bokeh". "Selling it in crypto only and being the first to do so means we are bringing this directly to the core audience and those who will want this device - the blockchain community", Chen said.
