Protesters flock to London to back new vote on Brexit

The publication of the survey came hours before a planned march in London calling for a so-called "People's Vote" - or "Losers" Vote', according to critics - which anti-Brexit organizers claim will attract up to 100,000 people.

"What's clear is that the only options on the table now from the prime minister are a bad Brexit deal, or no deal whatsoever", London Mayor Sadiq Khan, who joined the "People's Vote March", told the BBC. CNN could not independently verify the number of marchers.

There are now 2 million young people in this country who are entitled to vote but had no say at any point over the Brexit process.

"The People's Vote March For The Future will be the most important protest of our generation".

He said: 'This Saturday, people from every corner of our country will travel to London to demand that the British people get the final say on Brexit.

It was followed by a rally in Trafalgar Square where the speakers included London Mayor Sadiq Khan, a prominent anti-Brexit voice, or "Remainer", and member of the opposition Labour Party.

He added: "there are lots of people who voted leave who will be on the march today because they don't like the way that Brexit is going".

"The Government is taking us towards either a bad Brexit deal or - worse still - no deal at all".

This Government has failed on Brexit: there is no mandate for its auto crash proposal or for a disastrous no-deal Brexit.

The protest will congregate at Park Lane from midday on Saturday (20 October).

The Brexit campaign won the 2016 referendum 52 percent to 48 percent.

If Theresa May can not make a Brexit deal work and the outcome of negotiations is rejected by Parliament, then, the People's Vote campaign argues, the people of Britain should have the democratic right to vote on the final Brexit deal when it becomes clear what that entails for the UK.

"Whether we voted to leave or remain in the 2016 referendum, this Government has failed on Brexit". The deal will also have to be ratified by the parliaments of the remaining 27 European Union nations. The current plan is for a transition period of 21 months to run until December 2021 to smooth the path from Brexit to the United Kingdom and EU's future trading relationship.

Negotiations over a final divorce deal are now at an impasse over the issue of the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, which remains in the EU.

Until now, May has insisted that a legal guarantee to ensure no new border emerges on the island of Ireland should be strictly limited in time, to avoid delaying the U.K.'s departure and to ensure the country is free from European Union customs rules to strike its own trade deals.

Just 16 per cent of voters think the issue would be settled for the foreseeable future by re-running the European Union referendum, the YouGov poll for The Times found.
