Mourinho infuriated as Chelsea salvage unbeaten record

Chelsea have had an uneasy relationship with Mourinho since his second sacking in 2015: he is the club's most successful manager but the rawness of their parting has made celebrating his achievements tricky in the last three years.

Chelsea took the lead through Antonio Rudiger in the first half before a double from Anthony Martial got United in front.

However, Chelsea substitute Barkley had the final say deep into stoppage time, the England midfielder's goal prompting wild celebrations on the touchline and a furious row as Mourinho was left incensed by provocation from Marco Ianni, a member of Chelsea's coaching staff.

Ianni was pumping his fists just in front of Mourinho and the Portuguese manager reacted furiously, running over to Ianni and having to be restrained by stewards.

"I never saw what the majority of the goalkeepers do in the Premier League, which is go to the limit of earning a yellow card". Mourinho, who accused Chelsea's fans of disrespecting him, also attempted to draw a line under the matter despite saying that Ianni's actions were down to a "bad education". What happened with [Maurizio] Sarri's assistant, Sarri was the first one to come to me and say he will resolve it.

"I would love to have him in Manchester United but I don't think Chelsea will be selling to Manchester United so it's not a problem", Mourinho told reporters.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri confirmed that he and his assistant had apologised to Mourinho straight after the game, with Sarri admitting that his staff were in the wrong.

"I think they're going to be a near miss". For me, the story is over. But his frustration at blowing what could have been a huge win was obvious as the visitors remain seven points adrift of Chelsea, and could fall nine points behind Manchester City and Liverpool should they win their respective fixtures later Saturday (Oct 20).

Put himself about in the first half and was then in the wars when clattered late by Mata.

"We were the best team on the pitch", Mourinho said.

"We controlled that very, very well". The result is really unfair for us. From one goal down, to scoring two in quick succession, to conceding once more late on, this game had it all.
