Carlos Hyde trade means it's Nick Chubb time in Cleveland

Hyde is a Jacksonville Jaguar after Friday's surprising trade.

His production this year and Cleveland's willingness to deal him in favor of their younger backs falls directly in line with why the 49ers didn't try to keep the Ohio State product around beyond last season. Enter Hyde. Signed in March of 2018, Hyde didn't make it long with the Browns.

Schefter reports that the Browns have plans to get their early draft pick more involved going forward. In addition to their own selections in the first six rounds, the Browns have acquired a third-rounder from the New England Patriots, Jacksonville's fifth-rounder, another fifth-rounder from New England and a conditional seventh-rounder from Jacksonville. Yeldon, meanwhile, is dealing with foot and ankle injuries. Owners of the former Browns running back have to be thrilled that he will get a better offensive line in front of him but owners of Leonard Fournett have to be wondering what to do now.

The running back workload in Cleveland has been a source of frustration for just about everyone all season. But he was taking playing time away from Chubb, who scored on two long touchdown runs at Oakland on September 30 and enters Sunday's game averaging 10.8 yards on 16 carries.

Following Cleveland's 38-14 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, head coach Hue Jackson admitted they needed to get Chubb the ball more. I think that is what you were seeing yesterday.
