Finally! Amitabh Bachchan Breaks His Silence On The #MeToo Movement

The Bollywood actor had accused actor Patekar of sexually harassing her on the sets of the film in 2008, an official said. The four persons have been booked under section 354 (molestation) and 509 (Word, gesture or act meant to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code late on Wednesday night. "We are investigating the case and enquiries are on with this regard", he said.

"The FIR was lodged against Nana Patekar, choreographer Ganesh Acharya, film's producer Samee Siddiqui and director Rakesh Sarang". "Neither am I Tanushree Dutta nor Nana Patekar", was Bachchan's response when asked about the controversy that dates back to 2008.

Tanushree Dutta is model-turned-actor who is prominently known for her work in Bollywood.

"I felt very uncomfortable because of his behavior mentioned above and he has outraged my modesty I felt embarrassed like this his behavior was inappropriate towards me". Besides the case study of the actress, the Facebook Live chat on the matter is also expected to spark some interesting debates on the lack of professional ethics, the legal action that needs to be taken by victims and survivors and at the same time, it will also deal with the flip side of this coin, that is, when women abuse this law for their own benefit with false claims.

Amitabh Bachchan’s take on MeToo movement after being called out by Tanushree Dutta

Patekar has denied he misbehaved with Dutta on the sets of the film, calling her claims a "lie".

She then called her parents and manager, who questioned Patekar's actions.

After the incident, says Tanushree, she was under tremendous shock and suffered psychological trauma, "unable to take up work and suffered huge monetary loss in crores of rupees". However, the producer refused to budge and Dutta had no choice but to leave the studio, the complaint said. Therefore, she left the police station without recording a statement. Dutta also added in her complaint that she could not understand the contents of the FIR, as it was written in Marathi. Her lawyer stated that many parts of the complaint were not mentioned and the FIR was filed only for the offence of causing damage to her vehicle and riot. Recently, Dutta received an apology from CINTAA for not taking timely action after she filed a complaint. "As part of the probe, we will record statements of all witnesses related to the case before summoning the accused", he said.
