Bolt's brace gives Central Coast Mariners 4-0 win

Usain Bolt continues his quest to make it as a professional footballer and the Jamaican scored twice for the Central Coast Mariners in his first game as a starter against Macarthur South West United.

Playing in a central striking role against A-League aspirants Macarthur South West United, Bolt struggled for touch early on Friday evening for the Mariners but flourished after halftime.

"The best thing about Usain Bolt is he's so humble", McCormack said.

Bolt emphasised how important the fixture would be in his quest to earn a contract prior to the game and responded with a second-half brace - although neither of the goals were classics.

The Central Coast Mariners begin their A-League campaign with a trip to face Brisbane Roar at the Suncorp Stadium on October 19.

"I'm keen, that's why I'm here to play my best and to try and get into the team", he added.

United States pastor Brunson back in Turkish court for spying and terror trial
Brunson has been held for nearly two years trumped-up on wide-ranging charges of conspiring to overthrow the Turkish government. He added that the Trump administration had "made it clear that we will continue to stand strong until Pastor Brunson is free".

"My first start and scoring two goals, it's a good feeling", Bolt said. In celebration, he gave his trademark Lightning Bolt to the crowd.

He converted with a neat left-footed finish and a tap-in during the second half after goals from Ross McCormack and Jordan Murray had put the visitors in control in Sydney.

Bolt retired from athletics after the 2017 World Championships and has been eager to forge a new career in professional football.

Bolt is a Manchester United fan, and while things are not going well for the Premier League club now, they aren't quite bad enough to justify handing him a contract, or even a trial. He just looks a little bit sharper, not a great deal to be honest.

Rather than leave him on to net a hat-trick, Bolt was taken off shortly after and told TV he was thrilled to show the world the improvements he had made.
