NBA Insider Has Major Update On A Jimmy Butler Trade

Jimmy Butler reportedly has no intention to sit out any regular season games if the Timberwolves don't trade him by Opening Night.

Stein also revealed that a third team hasn't entered talks yet, as Miami and Minnesota try to find a proper deal.

Minnesota's regular season starts October 17 against the San Antonio Spurs, and according to the ESPN report, head coach Tom Thibodeau is hoping Butler to return to practice and start preparing for the regular season.

Butler, 29, requested a trade from the Timberwolves last month.

"Minnesota has been in active discussions with Miami", Charania said. Dieng is owed $15.2 million in 2018-19, $16.2 million in 2019-20, and $17.3 million in 2020-21.

Luckily for the Heat, acquiring Butler could possibly result in a long-term extension.

While Miami could certainly use Butler's talents on the roster this season, it is heartening to see that it is clearly not willing to give up everything the Wolves seemingly covet. That could mean that the price of trading for Butler could be giving up Miami's most promising young players.

The Timberwolves are reportedly asking for stars, draft picks and starters for Butler.

Butler, 29, averaged 22.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists for Minnesota previous year, while missing 21 games last season with a right knee injury.

According to a recent report by National Basketball Association insider Shams Charania, the Wolves are now exclusively targeting the Heat as a trade partner.
