Jadeja completes his maiden Test hundred as India declare on 649/9

Shaw's hundred is a massive one for India in two respects - one, it breaks the kind of monopoly that the Vijay-Dhawan pair enjoyed and two, it shows that India can benefit from moving on from tried and tested options. Prithvi also got the opportunity to bat with his skipper Virat Kohli in his very first match.

18-year-old Prithvi Shaw made best use of the flat track to score a century on Test debut.

After Rahul's dismissal, Shaw and Pujara gave the innings a move on and did not look in any sort of trouble.

Shaw and Pujara, who came one down, however, maintained their calm and punished the bad deliveries to complete half-centuries. He also holds the record for being the youngest Indian to score a fifty on Test debut as well. He is also the third fastest Test Hundred on Debut, however, the second youngest was Sachin Tendulkar.

Shaw (134 off 154) and Cheteshwar Pujara (86 off 130) laid the foundation for a big score with a 206-run partnership after the early loss of K L Rahul (0).

Kohli was all smiles when young Shaw raised his bat after reaching the milestone.

Kohli, who was on 72 overnight, hit a four off Devendra Bishoo to bring up his 100 in the first Test in Rajkot.

On 232 for three at tea, India subdued the Windies in the final session thanks to a 105-run, fourth-wicket stand between the enterprising Kohli and Rahane.

But at 337 in 84 overs, Roston Chase dismissed Rahane.
