Yale classmate recalls Brett Kavanaugh as frequent, heavy drinker

Though Flake didn't say that anything in particular influenced his decision, the dramatic elevator video has become emblematic of the outrage felt by many survivors of sexual assault.

Any proof that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh lied during his Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing would be an immediate dealbreaker for his nomination, Sen. But this case is even weaker than that.

The FBI is now investigating Ford's accusations, as well as those of a second woman, Deborah Ramirez.

Just as Republicans on the Judiciary Committee were about to favorably recommend the confirmation of Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court on Friday, Flake had a change of heart.

"Dr. Ford identified other witnesses to the event, and those witnesses either refuted her allegations or failed to corroborate them".

Their meeting would lead to the advancing of Kavanaugh's nomination to the full Senate - but the circuit court judge now faces an Federal Bureau of Investigation inquiry into the sexual assault allegations against him.

Mitchell led the questioning on Thursday of Christine Blasey Ford, who said in her Senate testimony that she was "100 percent" certain that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her when they were in high school.

However, the polygraph notes also have discrepancies when compared to Ford's letter. "Whatever that means according to the senators and the Republicans and the Republican majority, I want them to do that". It's a Senate process.

Ludington said in his statement he didn't believe heavy drinking or aggressive behavior by an 18 or 21 year old should condemn them forever, but he was troubled by the way Kavanaugh misrepresented his past actions and drinking behavior in his Senate testimony. Kavanaugh has called her accusations a "joke".
