Donald Trump Calls Kavanaugh Moment A 'Dangerous Period' For America

Trump then said Kavanaugh is now facing a "guilty until proven innocent" situation, which he said is "a very, very unsafe standard".

President Trump also brought up how multiple Democrat lawmakers have been caught trying to communicate with Russians to bring his administration down. "They're obstructionists", he said.

On NBC's Late Night, Seth Meyers took a "Closer Look" at Trump's "off the rails" presser, taking note of Trump's claim that Democrats "laugh like hell" at the "con job" of women making accusations against Kavanaugh. "I think it's going to be a very important day in the history of our country".

In her opening statement for the hearing, she said a drunken Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her in a locked room at a high school party in 1982.

But a spokesman for the committee told AFP the letter lacked credibility and the panel had no way to investigate the matter because the complaint was anonymous. Trump had been referring to the paper, as he often does, as the "failing New York Times".

"And you know what, I could be persuaded, also", he said.

"There is a chance that her parents could have reported it 36 years ago", he said.
