Pakistan Foreign Ministers To Meet In New York After Imran Khan Request

ABU DHABI: Prime Minister Imran Khan meets Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE's Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan here on Wednesday after completing his two-day visit to Saudi Arabia.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday expressed hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reciprocate the offer of talks made by his Pakistan counterpart Imran Khan, saying "dialogue is the only way out of the stalemate".

Rejecting the SAARC suggestion, Mr Kumar said: "We have agreed to their request for a meeting but do not read too much into it".

In the letter addressing the PM as "Modi Sahab", Imran Khan also suggested a meeting between the foreign ministers and said Pakistan "remains ready" to discuss terrorism.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief thanked Prime Minister Modi for his "warm greetings" and best wishes on his assumption of charge as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. In the letter, Imran Khan has called for a meeting between Foreign Ministers of both the countries-Sushma Swaraj and Shah Mehmood Qureshi, on sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in NY, which is to be held later this month, say reports.

Imran Khan's letter is seen as a pitch for resuming the comprehensive dialogue process, also called the Indo-Pak composite dialogue process that had been derailed after multiple terror attacks in India.
