OnePlus To Launch TV

This is OnePlus' first time to move beyond mobile devices and accessories.

Interestingly, OnePlus isn't the only Chinese smartphone maker that has started focusing towards the smart TV market. OnePlus founder and CEO has announced that he will lead the new division alongside the existing smartphone division.

We want to bring the home environment to the next level of intelligent connectivity. The company revealed it's plan for launching this new product through a dedicated post on its OnePlus forums. OnePlus's announcement says that it has learned a lot about design, hardware, software, and more in its years creating smartphones, and as a result, sees the OnePlus TV as a natural next step.

OnePlus TV - When's It Coming? This would allow the TV to showcase details such as calendar events, suggestions, and even booking a cap to and fro destination.

To kick off the development of its smart TV, OnePlus has TV product manager Stephen L. The executive is asking for community's help to give the official name to the first TV product.

As of now, there are no other details available about the new smart TV that is called OnePlus TV.

OnePlus is now looking to repeat the trick with a new smart TV, out sometime next year. The ten finalists will be announced on October 31, with the overall victor set to be revealed before December 17. However, OnePlus will develop the image processing chipsets and algorithms themselves. Now you won't only have a smartphone, but Al and smart assistance function as well, just like the ones you've seen in Google Home and Amazon Echo. The company clarified that users can only suggest one name per forum submission and the team will choose its top 10 favorite suggestions on October 31.

On September 17, OnePlus surprised millions of people by announcing OnePlus TV. Liu believes that in the future TVs will be transformed into an intelligent screen which will connect and enhance a smart home's use cases.

He told PC Mag that he also envisions the OnePlus TV to be able to hear and answer questions that users throw at it from anywhere in the room, thanks to far-reaching microphones. Presumably, this hints at the strategy of offering something similar to the competition at a lower price.
