Google Home Hub leaks ahead of Pixel 3 event

Google Home Hub leaks ahead of Pixel 3 event

No launch date has been leaked, but seeing how the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL is expected to launch next month, it's very likely that we'll be hearing about the device then.

'Google targets to ship some 3 million units for the first batch of the new model of smart speaker that comes with a screen, ' the Nikkei Asian Review noted. As with other Smart Displays, the Home Hub will center around its Google Assistant integration.

The rumoured Google Smart Display has surfaced overnight, with a render showing the front and rear of the tablet-like device and there's some specs and pricing available as well. The device will also tie in heavily with Google services including Play Music, Maps, and YouTube (among others).

A separate leak also shows no mention of a camera either and that is going to put the supposed flagship at a disadvantage against equivalent Alexa products, like the Echo Show, at a time when the competition between the two has never been fiercer.

Netflix comes to Sky Q boxes in November
This option won't show Netflix content on the homepage but the app can be launched via the remote and by voice recognition. The partnership means that Netflix is integrated throughout the Sky Q interface, including the search facility.

But how much will the Google Home Hub cost? The screenshots reveal that Google has partnered with 400 brands to offer compatibility with more than 5,000 smart devices.

Additional specs include Bluetooth support, dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi with ambient light and colour sensors built-in and it weighs in at 480g.

Google's big hardware event is coming October 9, and we're getting a clearer picture of what to expect from the show as the days go by.

We'll see a lot more of the Google Home Hub on october 9th at the Made By Google event, and we'll hopefully know more about availability soon after. While these missing elements were seen as a reason not to buy into the product category by some, it showed a distinct difference between Home smart speakers and the company's Smart Displays.
