Cathay Pacific spells its own name incorrectly on new plane

But an engineer for Haeco, a sister company of the airline, questioned whether it was a genuine error.

After being notified, the Hong Kong-based airline took to social media to share its mistake.

There has been plenty of conversation surrounding what one person labelled the "Errorplane", with countless Twitter users mocking the company.

But the airline to its credit made light of the embarrassing mistake saying; "Oops this special livery won't last long!"

Another said: "In the age of Trump, just like the rest of us, Cathay Pacific literally has no Fs left to give. She's going back to the shop!" the airline tweeted alongside a photo of the name spelled "Cathay Paciic".

Owning up to the mistake, reps for the airline posted photos of the plane on social media.

However, some were more sympathetic to the airline. "We have stencils. [There] should be a blank gap in between letters if it was a real mistake".

Vimal Rai posted: "Great that you can have a laugh about this in public".

Cathay Pacific has poked fun at a spelling mishap that occurred after the completion of a paint job on one of its aircraft.
