Vikings make Dan Bailey signing official

The Vikings have a new kicker.

The former Cowboys kicker agreed to sign with the Vikings Monday after the team waived Daniel Carlson, NFL Media and ESPN reported.

Two of Carlson's misses came in overtime on Sunday, forcing the Vikings to settle for a 29-29 tie with the rival Packers.

The Vikings announced they've signed Dan Bailey, previously the kicker for the Dallas Cowboys. He is in his eighth season in the National Football League and has made 88.2 percent of his field goal attempts.

Hopefully this'll be the end of the Vikings kicking woes, at least for field goals and extra points. The 30-year-old Bailey slumped last season after a groin injury that kept him out for four games. But on Sunday, in his second regular-season game, he went 0-of-3 on field goals. One of his misses, in a 2014 NFC Divisional Round loss to the Packers, was blocked. "That last one was probably more just confidence after missing twice early. That is frustrating. That shorter one I should never miss like that".

"It's hard to figure out".

"That's life. I don't know. But things happen I guess".

"That's water off a duck's back", Zimmer said.

To make room for Bailey, the Vikings waived wide receiver Stacy Coley. We shall see what that means for Treadwell, a player they'd most likely bench instead of cutting (unless they really need the roster spot).
