CNN’s Anderson Cooper Rips Into Trump Jr

CNN’s Anderson Cooper Rips Into Trump Jr

What is worse is that there is a simple solution they refuse to accept. Stop lying to try to make Donald Trump look bad, ' he tweeted. "I debated whether I should even respond tonight to the president's son", Anderson admitted.

And while it's true that Trump Jr. didn't say that the photo was taking during CNN's coverage of Hurricane Florence - it's a 10-year-old photo of Hurricane Ike - the implication was, well, an implication.

The problem is that the image is from 2008 when Cooper covered Hurricane Ike's landfall in Texas. This photo began to go viral once again as Hurricane Florence hit the Carolinas over the weekend, with many accusing Anderson of kneeling in the water to make it seem deeper than it really was. Yet, a tweet from Donald Trump Jr. compelled him to speak up and clarify a few things about his network's coverage of Hurricane Florence. "Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who I actually interviewed during this broadcast, called it the largest rescue and recovery operation in Texas state history".

"Jake, it's laughable to watch you try to claim the moral high ground when the premise of Anderson's attack on me was false (as usual)", Trump Jr. tweeted this afternoon. I did not see him down in North Carolina over the last few days helping, lending a hand, but I am sure he was doing something important besides just tweeting lies, ' Cooper said on air.

"Some guy said I was on my knees to make it look deep and then went on to say that I was used to being on my knees, which I assume is some sort of anti-gay reference", Cooper said.

"Well, look, I don't expect the president's son to ever admit he was wrong or one of the president's former advisers or frankly anyone else who's retweeted these pictures".

Cooper said on air that he rarely responds to conspiracy theorists, but "in the interest of honesty and transparency", he chose to explain what the pictures show and debunk the fake news claim. "I'm sure he was busy doing something important besides just tweeting lies", Cooper added, noting that the cameraman in the Ike clip, CNN audio tech Doug Thomas, died a year ago and so couldn't have been filming Florence footage. Meanwhile several of CNN's biggest "bombshell" lies about me and my father remain uncorrected. Trump Jr. had never posted the image before.

"I'm not done", he said, five minutes in. "But I at least thought that they and you should know the truth", he concluded. He showed footage from his broadcast where he points out the higher ground on the road multiple times and explains to viewers that the road quickly drops off to the deep water he is in.

Anderson explained the variation in the water level between him and the cameraman was because he was standing in a roadside ditch as part of a special report.

One trump official wrote on Instagram: "You know it's sad when even the WEATHER is #FakeNews".

While rain was finally subsiding on Tuesday, the city of Wilmington remained largely cut off with thousands of people stranded. The dead included a one-year-old boy, who was swept away from his mother as they tried to escape their auto amid floodwaters.
