Buffalo Bills player Vontae Davis quits the whole sport at halftime

Vontae was signed by the Buffalo Bills in February 2018 on a one-year deal.

One half after a 47-3 shellacking at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens, the Bills trailed the Los Angeles Chargers 28-6 at halftime. The veteran cornerback apparently retired mid-game on Sunday.

A Buffalo Bills player made a decision to pack it in and call it a career right in the middle of Sunday's game.

While Davis was not officially moved to the retired/ reserve list just yet, the National Football League did grant the Bills a roster exception due to the freaky nature of Davis's retirement, which he announced in the middle of the team's 31-20 loss against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

"[Davis] pulled himself out of the game", Bills coach Sean McDermott said.

Lewis, a second-year pro, only recorded two tackles in the preseason during the New England Patriots' final game.

"I never have seen that". [Guys on the sideline] said he's not coming out, he retired. He was traded to the Indianapolis Colts in 2012 and played in Indy until this offseason, when he was signed as a free agent by the Buffalo Bills. But today on the field, reality hit me fast and hard: "I shouldn't be out there anymore", the statement read.

"Completely disrespectful", Alexander said, according to The Athletic. "While I was on the field, I just didn't feel right, and I told the coaches, "I'm not feeling like myself".

"It's more important for me and my family to walk away healthy than to wilfully embrace the warrior mentality and limp away too late", he added.
