Hurricane Florence volunteer rescues six dogs abandoned in LOCKED cage

The American Red Cross is providing food and shelter to thousands of people who have been displaced by the hurricane, while the Foundation For The Carolinas' Hurricane Florence Response Fund directs funds to nonprofits in North and SC providing relief to victims of the storm. Although Hurricane Florence's immediate impact on the Carolinas wasn't as bad as some people expected, the rains that have been falling on the East coast for the last few days have brought flooding that seems decidedly Biblical.

But the vast rainfall from Hurricane Florence and its aftermath left clinics closed and hospitals isolated in flood-ravaged North Carolina.

Hero volunteers have rescued six dogs found abandoned in a locked cage in North Carolina, where they almost drowned in the Hurricane Florence's fast-rising flood waters.

"The soil is soaked and can't absorb any more rain so that water has to go somewhere, unfortunately", he said, adding that the rivers would start to crest on Monday. The National Weather Service considers flooding to be "devastating " once a height of 23 feet is reached for the river.

Flood watches stretch from Virginia all the way to MA on Tuesday morning, including Washington, D.C.; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Albany, New York; Hartford, Connecticut; and Boston.

While rain was finally subsiding on Tuesday, the city of Wilmington remained largely cut off with thousands of people stranded.

The dead included a one-year-old boy, who was swept away from his mother as they tried to escape their auto amid floodwaters.

The boy's mother drove around a barricade in the road and ended up stuck in rushing water on Sunday evening.

The remnants of tropical storm Florence are moving through New Hampshire today and heavy rain is in the forecast until tonight. "Stay safe, river flooding is still a major concern!"

Brock Long, head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, appeared with Cooper and said his agency would help restore power and open roads.

Eric Tryggeseth, 59, found his home in Leland, North Carolina, without power on Monday and a tree laying in his front yard.

"The floodwaters were rising so I figured I better get out of there", he said.

More than 347,000 customers, mostly in the Carolinas, were without power on Tuesday morning, according to power companies, down from a peak of almost 1 million outages.

According to, Jordan is contributing $1 million each to the American Red Cross and the Foundation For The Carolinas' Hurricane Florence Response Fund.

Hurricane Florence made landfall early Friday morning as a Category 1 hurricane.

Jordan also stated that she has all of the proper qualifications for the job, claiming that she "was born to do talk shows". They said their source said she may have been asked to do so, and should be making the official announcement herself soon.
