Emmys: Rachel Brosnahan Urges Hollywood Elite to Get Out the Vote

Bill Hader collected the best comedy actor award for "Barry", a dark comedy about a hired killer who stumbles into a possible acting career. But this year "Atlanta" was also shut out of the other big categories for which it was nominated, including comedy actor, comedy writing, comedy directing and supporting comedy actress. "I don't even believe in God but I'm going to thank her tonight", Newton quipped. "Kind of like being the sexiest person on life support", Jost joked.

"Saturday Night Live" won, as expected, for variety sketch series, taking its lifetime Emmy total to a record-setting 72 wins since 1975. Unlike many other news organizations, we have not put up a paywall.

Brosnahan is the first new victor in the category since 2012 when Julia Louis-Dreyfus began her streak for "Veep".

HBO's "Game of Thrones" was named best drama series, beating last year's champion "The Handmaid's Tale". The networks, which air the Emmy telecast on a rotating basis, are so eager for the ad dollars it generates and its promotional value for fall shows that they endure online competitors sharing the stage.

With perennial victor Julia Louis-Dreyfus out of the running after a hiatus for her show "Veep", Brosnahan took the award for best lead actress in a comedy series, for her role as a suddenly single Upper West Side housewife pursuing a career in stand-up comedy in 1958.

Representative Adam Schiff , the top Democrat on the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, sharply criticized Trump. Strzok indicated as much in a text to Page on May 19, 2017, two days after special counsel Robert Mueller was appointed.

Amazon's "The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, ' about a 1950s housewife who turns to standup comedy, took home the Emmy for best comedy series".

If the show hits a lull there's a good chance politics will shake it up.

"I don't know who it was, but I know it was that guy from Atlanta", Hader said backstage. "Rachel is very like her character, she was able to persevere through it, but they actually said, 'Why don't you take a little time for yourself?'" "I think that you do need to strike a balance".

Barry also brought honors for veteran Henry Winkler, winning a standing ovation and his first-ever Emmy for his supporting role as a self-important acting teacher.
