CJ McCollum Live-Tweeted The Browns Heartbreaking Loss To The Saints

The Browns flirted with ending their winless streak but lost 21-18 in heartbreaking fashion to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday at the Superdome. With just under three minutes to go, Taylor led a touchdown drive that was capped off by a flawless 47-yard touchdown pass from Taylor to wide receiver Antonio Callaway.

Taylor aired out a throw over the middle of the field and found Callaway behind the coverage of a New Orleans defensive back in stride in the middle of the end zone for the touchdown.

But New Orleans didn't cash in on several chances, and it has to have a little more effectiveness when it does run the ball (23 carries for 62 yards; 22 for 61 when you erase Brees' kneeldown in "Victory" formation). They proceeded to allow two touchdowns in the Saints in just over six minutes before the above sequence occurred. The Browns got the ball back, though, and also made their way down the field. The Browns, after all, haven't won a game in more than a year. The Browns outplayed the Saints for three quarters, but a fourth quarter collapse proved to be fatal. Are the New Orleans Saints a bit worse than we gave them credit for all offseason?

The first half was a defensive slugfest.

On third-and-goal from the one, quarterback Tyrod Taylor took the snap from under center JC Tretter, faked a reverse handoff to wide receiver Antonio Callaway and fired out a pitch to Hyde, who was running to the left side of the field.

Hyde capped off a 12-play, 79-yard scoring drive that took almost six-and-a-half minutes off of the third-quarter clock. Wide receiver Jarvis Landry managed to get wide open and reel in a catch at midfield, setting Cleveland up with 14 seconds left in regulation.

Taylor went 22-of-30 passing for 246 yards and a touchdown with an interception for a rating of 94.6.

The Saints then drove to the Browns' 15, but on third-and-7, Ogunjobi sacked Brees for an 11-yard loss.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees completed 28 of 35 passes for 243 yards and 2 touchdowns - both to former Ohio State Buckeye Michael Thomas while Alvin Kamara added 99 yards combined from scrimmage in the victory.

Earlier in the drive, Brees had Benjamin Watson open over the middle of the field, but the pass tipped off of the veteran tight end's right hand and fell incomplete.

Three plays later, Gonzalez buried the field goal attempt. The Saints had a few drives that were starting to roll, but the Browns defense forced two turnovers and a missed field goal in the half. Cornerback Terrance Mitchell caused the fumble and recovered it.

A shocking missed extra point attempt gave the Saints the ball back, all tied up at 18-18.
