Experts disagree on whether Dallas officer could be credible

A warrant signed by 292nd District Court Judge Brandon Birmingham says police meant to search Jean's apartment for "any contraband, such as narcotics", that could "constitut [e] evidence of a criminal offense".

The document states that officers found several items in the apartment, including two fired cartridge casings, a metal marijuana grinder and 10.4 grams of marijuana.

Guyger told police she entered Jean's apartment on September 6 after realizing the door was slightly cracked.

A search was conducted at Mr Jean's apartment after the deadly shooting.

She has been charged with manslaughter and has been released on bail.

His mother, Allison Jean, recalled her son's commitment to his faith at a prayer vigil last weekend.

Family and friends paid tribute to Mr Jean at his funeral on Thursday, which was held at a church in a district of Dallas.

Jean's family had previously said they do not believe he would have left his door open.

Merritt said the witnesses are sisters who live at the apartment complex.

Lawyer Lee Merritt, who represents the family of Botham Jean, said this showed investigators were trying to discredit the victim.

The attorneys have questioned why police would have including searching for "narcotics" in the affidavit seeking to search the Jean's apartment.

O'Donnell said it would require a full investigation to determine all the factors that went into her shooting Jean, and that one or two details could make a difference.
