RIP iPhone: Apple discontinues its flagships

RIP iPhone: Apple discontinues its flagships

At 12:01am PDT/3:01am EDT on Friday morning, pre-orders will start being accepted for the Apple iPhone XS and Apple iPhone XS Max. In Russia, for example, you could snag a 64GB iPhone XS for $1,292, slightly below the $1,380 iPhone X launch price that same Russian customer would have paid. The new range now comes with a fullscreen display and FaceID as standard - this was introduced by the trendsetting iPhone X a year ago.

Three new iPhones are heading our way: the XS, XS Max, and the XR.

For the first time, Apple will not bundle a wired headphone dongle with its iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, and iPhone XR. Gareth recons that the lower price will make the iPhone XR the best selling new iPhone revealed this year. The iPhone Xr is coming later than the other devices, and will be available to pre-order from October 19th, with the phone arriving a week after on October 26th.

The phone has a single 12MP rear sensor, rather than the two on the XS and XS Max, while the front comes installed with a TrueDepth camera for facial unlocking and selfies. Beavis believes this is where most of the cost saving has been generated for the model.

Massive OnePlus 6T Leak: Spces, Price and More
The OnePlus 6T is now listed as "Out of Stock" on Giztop and it says that the smartphone will not be available until October 16. Not only do we know its price, but all of the handset's major specs and release date have also been revealed.

As such, Gareth concludes that providing you don't want loads of advanced features, no "bells and whistles", then the camera system on the iPhone XR "will do you just fine".

Both of these factors might explain Apple's thinking.

The pre-order period for the Apple iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and the Apple Watch Series 4 is nearly upon us. Why pay $US999 for the incredible screen on the iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max when you could effectively buy the same phone for $US100 less?

Until it was killed off on Wednesday, the iPhone SE had been a rare budget-conscious device from Apple, priced at $US350.
