Chelsea’s Sarri tips Liverpool for title challenge

Chelsea are enjoying a delightful start to their new season in the Premier League under the stewardship of their new manager Maurizio Sarri.

Chelsea defender David Luiz has claimed that Maurizio Sarri's attitude towards life is the reason why the Italian is enjoying his time on and off the pitch.

Sarri's positive outlook - and not just in terms of his coaching - have helped to rejuvenate the Blues career of a player who was so pivotal in the title triumph of 2016-17.

The 31-year old defender, who is in his second spell with the London club, has bounced back and featured in all the four opening matches as Chelsea maintained their ideal start to the new season under the Italian.

"But the Premier League is very competitive, other teams have a lot of good players and it will not be easy".

Chelsea have a great chance to record a fifth straight win when they hose Cardiff City this weekend but even if they do have 15 points from the first five games, it looks like Sarri will not be totally convinced of his side's title chances.

I recently met his parents and you only understand how children are when you have met the parents. "He's an incredible boy. I'm really happy there", he added.

"So, I believe in his philosophy and then after that he is a great coach".

Luiz said: "He wants to play with the ball, he wants to play with intensity, to work on the details and to give us all the information he can about the next game and the opponent".

"You have to play good football for a whole year to achieve that, but I think they can do it, both Pep and Klopp".

Luiz and Chelsea next take on promoted Cardiff City this Saturday, hoping to keep up their flawless start.

"Last time I spoke to him he told me he wants to play for another season", Sarri said.

Chelsea endured a hard campaign in 2017-18 and their dismal performance only helped them finish 5th in the league table, which made them unqualified to participate in the UEFA Champions League. To close that gap in only one season is very hard.
