NASA Footage Shows Strengthening Hurricane Florence From Space

As more than a million Americans living on coastal areas prepare for evacuation to flee from the destructive path of Hurricane Florence, the astronauts on board the International Space Station (ISS) are keeping an eye on the Category 4 storm from their unique vantage point 250 miles (400 kilometers) above our planet.

But on Wednesday, a high definition camera outside the International Space Station captured a detailed and sobering view of Hurricane Florence from above.

Astronaut Alexander Gerst also joined in the fun, explaining that the courageous space men and women need wide-lense cameras to take these incredible photos. An astronaut aboard the space station said it was "chilling".

NASA is using its various high-flying tools to monitor the storm, taking precipitations measurements and NOAA's National Hurricane Center is using that data to forecast the storm's progress.

A camera aboard the International Space Station recorded video of Hurricane Florence on Wednesday morning, when it was about 500 miles offshore.

Henry Cavill exits DC Extended Universe role as Superman
According to Deadline , the studio is eyeing a " Supergirl " movie thanks to the success of the CW series of the same name. If true, Henry would not be able to reprise his role as the comics canon would see Superman be a infant in that timeline.

On Wednesday, forecasters projected Florence - now a category 4 hurricane - will likely slow down and turn south after slamming the East Coast.

Hurricane Florence, now a Category 4 storm, is a 'no-kidding nightmare, ' warns German astronaut Alexander Gerst.

New video from NASA shows Hurricane Florence on its course toward the United States on Monday, September 10, as the National Weather Service upgraded the rapidly strengthening hurricane to Category 4 status.

This enhanced satellite image made available by NOAA shows Tropical Storm Florence, center, in the Atlantic Ocean on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018 at 2:45 p.m. EDT.
