Geoffrey Owens Accepts Tyler Perry's Offer Of Acting Role

He's accepted a job offer from Tyler Perry and will appear on 10-episodes of OWN's 'The Have and the Have Nots'.

"What I hope continues to resonate is the idea that one job is not better than another", Owens said earlier this week.

In fact, Owens is reportedly set to fly to Atlanta now to begin filming next week on the set of Tyler Perry Studios and elsewhere in the metro area. The specifics surrounding his role have not yet been revealed.

Hollywood actor Geoffrey Owens just did it on 'em.

"I don't know why I snuck a picture", said Lawrence. Not just for me, but for working people.

Perry isn't the only person who has shown their appreciation for Owens this week.

A customer's snapshots of Owens bagging groceries in New Jersey were published by the Daily Mail and Fox News, leading to accusations of "job-shaming".

After the photo of the former The Cosby Show actor hit on the web, hundreds of fans and celebrities took to Twitter to voice their support for Owens.

Nicki Minaj is using her platform for good and this time, it's Geoffrey Owens who'll receive the queen's blessing. We know that Owens was hesitant to take a role that he got just because of his viral fame, but we imagine that he and Perry had some great conversations about this before he agreed to take the job. So, that's a very, very generous thing for him to say. "I wanted a job that had some flexibility, so that if I did stay in (the) entertainment industry, if I could continue to audition and do jobs if I could, and Trader Joe's provided that". And we'll see what happens with that. A single photograph made him one of the most talked about actors in America as well as allow people to reflect on the dedication and risk that goes into pursuing a career in acting.
