Novak Djokovic vs Juan Martin del Potro, US Open 2018 final

Novak Djokovic vs Juan Martin del Potro, US Open 2018 final

Novak Djokovic has been criticised for stopping play in odd circumstances during the US Open final.

He was apparently not happy that a new ball had found its way into the mix, despite the fact that new balls weren't due.

Djokovic and del Potro have squared off 18 times but never in a major final.

Juan Martin del Potro put up as strong as a fight as you'll see in a straight-set win, but it was Novak Djokovic's day at the U.S. Open men's final on Sunday.

"That's a bit petty from Djokovic", ESPN courtside commentator Darren Cahill said.

The Serb managed to regain his composure to take the second set in a thrilling tiebreaker.

Google hardware event confirmed for October 9 in NY
Last year, the company announced Clips, Pixel Buds , PixelBook, Home Mini and Max along with the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. Some other leaked images show that just like the earlier Pixel phones, the new Pixels will have a dual-tone design.

Aged just 20, Del Potro defeated Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in successive matches to win the 2009 US Open, and the world No 3 was determined to stay competitive, staying firm following a gritty hold in the opening game of the next set.

Djokovic's third U.S. Open title also moves him into a tie for fifth all-time in men's singles titles at New York City during the Open Era, joining Nadal, Oliver Campbell, Ivan Lendl and Fred Perry.

After missing last year's tournament with an injured right elbow that eventually required surgery, Djokovic rubber-stamped his return the top of his game with another major title to add to his fourth Wimbledon crown in July.

Both men had one grand-slam title to their name, but for some Del Potro looked the safer bet.
