Danish FA players' union reach short-term agreement for match vs Wales

News broke on Tuesday night that those heroes from Russian Federation, including the likes of Christian Eriksen and Kasper Schmeichel, had refused to sign a new deal with the Danish Football Association (DBU) over commercial image right disputes.

Neither Eriksen, nor Schmeichel, nor Kjaer. nor a single elite footballer.

Denmark fielded a team made up entirely of futsal and lower-league players against Slovakia due to a commercial sponsorship row with senior stars, and they produced a valiant display despite losing 3-0 in Trnava.

Full-time manager Age Hareide was also absent, and temporarily replaced by John Jensen, who revealed he previously knew nothing about those in his squad.

It remains unclear whether the same makeshift squad will also have to face Wales this weekend in their UEFA Nations League opener, or whether a deal with the union can be reached by then.

Nadal retires, Del Potro in US Open final
Australia, Roland Garros and Wimbledon present their own unique challenges, but NY , the final major, is an island unto itself. Still, he retains the No. 1 ranking no matter if Del Potro or the Novak Djokovic-Kei Nishikori semifinal victor lifts the U.S.

A DBU statement said no players will comment on the settlement until after the Wales match has been played.

Among those in Denmark's line-up against Slovakia were Christian Offenberg, a salesman, and student Simon Vollesen, as their lone striker and right-back respectively. There is more at stake and I assume they send the national team that usually plays and that they will sort it out.

Thursday evening saw Denmark's fabled team of second-string ringers play their first game together, taking on Slovakia while the first team continue to bicker with the Danish Football Association (DBU) over image rights and other related contractual issues.

"Of course it's a unusual situation we've ended up in, but I've always dreamed of making my national team debut".

Quarreling over commercial rights for players, such issues will be put to one side until Denmark's matches against Wales.
