Bedford deaths: WA Police investigate death of children, women

At least five people have been found dead at a home in Perth's north-east, in what police have called a "tragic event".

"Sadly, at that location, police have located the bodies of a number of deceased people, including women and children", he said.

A man in his twenties was helping police with their inquiries, he said, adding there was no danger to the public.

Mr Steel said it was expected the crime scene examination could take "a number of days" and would involve specialist forensic police officers.

Police were last night yet to confirm the identities of the deceased but it is believed they are a mother, her three children and another older female relative.

A distraught neighbour near the scene said she often saw children playing in the front yard of the house.

He said the investigation was still at a "very early stage" but described the scene as "tragic".
