Steven Gerrard Old Firm reaction: Rangers were done by a refereeing decision

Both Celtic and Rangers now head into the worldwide break, meaning they are not next in action for over ten days.

Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic bundled over Jack and broke with the ball, before Ntcham rounded off a lightning-quick counter-attack.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard told the club's official website: "I said we were talking about giving Alfredo a new deal and I am delighted to confirm we have now done exactly that".

The champions are now second in the Premiership - three points behind Hearts - and four clear of Rangers, who have won just one of their opening four games, after this loss and stalemates at Aberdeen and Motherwell.

'I think this week we sent the message of keeping clean sheets.

The first half we didn't play enough and we didn't make enough passes, although our shape was okay. "We asked the players to have a bit more courage in possession, play a bit better, and I thought in the second half we matched them if not edged it a bit as I thought we were the ones looking to get the equaliser".

Argentina asks early release of IMF funds to calm markets
The government says it expects the country's economy to contract 1 percent in 2018 but grow by at least 1.5 percent next year. He said the decision sought to dispel any uncertainty, but he did not specify the amount or when the funds would be released.

Rodgers admitted his side dominated the clash from start to finish but praised Steven Gerrard for the way he set Rangers up during the tie.

"The previous three or four derbies I have watched, it has been a bit of a mis-match and Celtic have blown Rangers away". The scoreline doesn't really reflect our dominance.

"I'm disappointed with the decision of the referee, but that's life, we have to get on with it".

"We showed a calmness to play round them and play through them". Rodgers' side were able to take control from the start without much resistance and would have felt unlucky not to have gone in at half-time at least two goals ahead. We kept clean sheets so it's that concentration which is so important for us because we have great creativity in the team.

"On the end of a busy week, in what has been a busy pre-season, it was an outstanding performance and there's a lot more to come from the squad".
