Agent Jorge Mendes slams 'shameful' Cristiano Ronaldo snub

Agent Jorge Mendes slams 'shameful' Cristiano Ronaldo snub

Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes was far from happy with the decision to honour Luka Modric as UEFA Men's Player of the Year.

The Portuguese faced Manchester United in just one Champions League season during his time with Real Madrid, scoring at the Bernabéu and at Old Trafford.

Manchester City are wary of the threat posed by Champions League Group A rivals Shakhtar Donetsk after being tested by the Ukrainian side in last season's competition, the Premier League club's director of football Txiki Begiristain has said.

Modric - who also won the Golden Ball at the World Cup in Russian Federation after leading Croatia to the final - added: "As I already said, I am really happy to be here".

The Croatia captain received 313 points in the vote, surpassing Ronaldo, who was a no-show at the ceremony, by 90 points with Liverpool's Mohamed Salah finishing at the third position.

Mauricio Pochettino's side showed their mettle last season when they topped a group including the reigning European champions Real Madrid and German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund, so Kane is looking forward to the challenge ahead.

Ronaldo, a United player from 2003 to 2009, scored when they beat Chelsea on penalties in the 2008 final after a 1-1 draw and has faced them twice in the competition since with Real Madrid.

That voice belonged to Katia Aveiro, sister of Cristiano Ronaldo, who was rendered totally aghast that her sibling was passed over by UEFA.

Having moved to Turin from Real Madrid in the summer, the former Red Devil will be relishing the chance to humiliate Jose Mourinho.

Group C was closest to a "Group of Death", as it pitted Liverpool, Paris St Germain and Napoli against each other.

They round off the group stage with a trip to Valencia on Wednesday, December 12.

Also drawn with Spurs are Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven and Inter Milan, who finished fourth in Italy's Serie A.

Group H also serves a couple of exciting matches where Juventus, Manchester United and Valencia have been tied together. Here is how I see the groups for the road to the Metropolitano.

Group E: Bayern Munich, Benfica, Ajax, AEK Athen.

"We want to respect that. I believe we'll have a good season to enjoy following the excitement which surrounded the draw in Monaco and Group B is my pick", Akonnor told Goal.
