Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers agree to four-year extension

Rodgers' deal surpasses quarterback Matt Ryan's contract extension from this past offseason.

Rodgers is set to receive over $100 million in guaranteed money, the highest guaranteed total in history. Schefter reports that Rodgers will sign the contract Wednesday. He's also the first player in National Football League history to receive over $100 million in guarantees.

"Big feature is cash flow: $67m before end of calendar, over $80m before St. Patrick's Day next year, $103m practically guaranteed", Schefter tweeted, citing a source. Ryan is scheduled to make $150 million over five years with the Falcons.

Rodgers still had two years remaining on his contract, meaning he is now under contract through 2023.

US Open: Nadal, Federer and Serena Williams
It's the culmination of a five-year, $600 million project that remade the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Her departure means she can't stand in the way of Serena Williams, who could have faced Halep in the fourth round.

UPDATE (1:11 p.m. ET): Former NFL receiver, current NFL Network analyst and ex-teammate of Rodgers, James Jones, says it's a four-year extension worth a whole bunch of money. He slipped to 10th place by this past summer with other quarterbacks getting more recent - and lucrative - deals. "This is a partnership". And if they make that financial commitment, that's what they're saying, and also there's an expectation that you're going to play well.

Rogers, 34, was drafted by the Packers in 2005.

The 34-year-old is coming off the most disappointing season of his career, however, after breaking his collarbone on October 15 last season.
