Sooners No. 7 in preseason AP poll, Cowboys unranked

UCF was ranked No. 21 in the Associated Press preseason Top 25 poll released Monday. We've got all 25 teams listed below in order, with the number of first-place votes for each team is listed.

Clemson, Georgia, Wisconsin and Ohio State follow the Crimson Tide in the top 5.

Going for their second straight national championship, the Alabam Crimson Tide already have one three-peat in the bag. This is also the ninth consecutive year Alabama is rated among the top-3 teams in the nation by AP heading into the new season, the longest stretch in school history.

Alabama earned 48 of the 61 possible first-place votes to earn the top spot.

Danilo , Fernandinho , Paulinho, Cassio and Pedro Geromel were the other members of the Selecao's World Cup squad to miss out. Tite said he left out several senior men to give younger players a chance to show what they can do at the highest level.

- No. 9 Auburn, No. 12 Notre Dame, No. 14 MI and No. 25 LSU each lead the way with five games vs. other teams in the preseason top 25.

The Sooners, who are coming off a third straight Big 12 title and a second College Football Playoff appearance in the last three years, accumulated 1,173 points in the poll. It marked the first time the program had been ranked in a preseason poll.

Additionally, of its 60 appearances in the AP preseason poll, 42 have seen OU ranked seventh or higher. The team with the highest point total leads the rankings.

The Cowboys received 51 points, the fourth team outside the poll and just ahead of FAU, which received 38 points.
