Over recent weeks Manchester United were heavily linked with a move for Leicester and England defender Harry Maguire.

United made an enquiry for 32-year-old Godín but were told by Atletico Madrid that the central defender was not for sale.

Leicester's former Manchester City striker Iheanacho also reckons everyone at his old club will cheer him on in Friday night's showpiece season opener at Old Trafford.

Maguire earned plenty of new admirers for his strong performances for England at this summer's World Cup in Russian Federation.

"I thought he was a definite, he would have been my go-to choice to be honest".

"We lost Riyad (Mahrez) he was a valuable player for us but was important to keep all our best players and have good additions for the squad".

However, Iheanacho is expected to play a role when Leicester face United at Old Trafford tonight, and the Nigeria global has suggested that he is feeling sharp ahead of the new campaign.

Woodland stays ahead at PGA after rain-hit second round
Resuming his weather-delayed round on the 12th hole Saturday, the Lehi resident made two more birdies and two bogeys to finish. He went on to play his next 5 holes in 2 under par, which leaves him at even par for the championship in a tie for 64th.

"We found success with good moves and good quality and perhaps in the second-half we had good energy to finish this performance for another result but I think at the end it is a disappointment". We have to prepare for this season with good possibilities'.

In Maguire's case, Leicester City stuck to their guns and kept hold of their prized asset, having slapped a price tag of around £80 million on him.

When that was put to Puel, the Frenchman maintained his stance.

"It is very good to have Harry back", he said.

"We have had good talks with Harry and with the chairman and we can not change things just before the first game of the season and just before the end of the transfer window".

The Premier League transfer window may now be closed, but that's not the case in Spain.
