Google Play Store Now Tells You It Doesn't Have Fortnite

Fake games on the Play Store have been a problem for some time.

Avoiding Google Play distribution means Epic gets to keep all of the in-app purchase revenue rather than paying 30 percent of it to Google.

This stands in contrast to the iOS version of Fortnite, which is available to download right from Apple's App Store. As spotted by a Reddit user, searching for Fortnite or Fortnite Battle Royale will yield a warning saying the game isn't available on the Play Store.

News of the ceremony prompted an immediate response on Twitter, with tweets ranging from "welcome!" to "unfreakingbelievable". Their son-in-law has frequently attacked U.S. immigration laws, calling them the "dumbest laws on immigration in the world".

The userbase of Android is much higher than iOS so even if the Google Play Store doesn't charge fees as high as Apple, its still a huge loss for the company, at least $50 million as suggested by data analysts. You can toggle these apps on to permanently stay in your app drawer or just add a simple home screen shortcut. And you get first dibs with the beta if you own a Samsung device - a list that includes its flagship Galaxy S9 / S9 Plus (and its predecessors, the S8 / S8 Plus); the Note8 (and the just-announced Galaxy Note9, when it arrives later this month); as well as the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge and Tab S3.

The reason the company behind Fortnite has made a decision to release the game on Android without the Play store is simple: money.

If more developers follow Epic's path, then the road to unauthorized and potentially harmful downloads on Android devices will only widen. On top of that, only owners of certain Samsung smartphones were able to play the game at launch. So now when you will search for the keywords such as "Fortnite", "Fortnite Mobile" or "Fortnite Battle Royal" on Google Play app on Android, it'll show you a message - "Fortnite Battle Royal by Epic Games, Inc is not available on Google Play".
