Three Miami Dolphins Protest During the National Anthem

With the NFL enacting, then reconsidering rules that require players to stand at attention during the national anthem, Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins resumed the raised-fist protest he had ended during the 2017 season.

To be clear, only two players took a knee during the anthem and they were on the same team.

Dolphins defensive end Robert Quinn raised his right fist.

The NFL also commented on the demonstration shown by Dolphins players, reiterating that no player can be disciplined for violating any national anthem policy while they continue their discussions with the NFLPA.

Trump, who is on a "working vacation" at his New Jersey golf club, has made a habit out of blasting both the protesting NFL players and the league itself for not cracking down on them, at least in part because his base supports his stance on the matter. The Dolphins issued a statement before training camp saying all options regarding the team's policy remain open. The league chose to put a temporary hold on the implementation of that policy while it works with the NFL Players Association toward a resolution.

Ex-49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was the first to protest in 2016.

Jefferson, Jackson and Brown were among the Seahawks players who sat during the anthem last season. That rule has since been pulled off the table with the hope that the players and owners can come to a negotiated agreement before the season begins.

West Ham also sold one player on deadline day, shipping 18-year-old Portuguese midfielder Domingos Quina to Watford. The Spaniard struggled to make an impact with the Gunners and spent last season on loan at Deportivo La Coruna .

Trump, throughout the 2017 National Football League season, blasted National Football League protesters, condemning their actions as disrespectful to America and the flag.

"I got beliefs, I did what I did. I don't think it's a real issue".

"This is not going to become a distraction in Jacksonville, this is not going to be a distraction for this team".

Only two players were reported to have kneeled during the national anthem on Thursday evening, according to the Associated Press, but there were other demonstrations involving players raising their fists and others returning to the locker room during the ceremony.

"As a man I gotta stand for something".

On Thursday, as the preseason games officially kicked off, several players took a knee, raised a fist, or did not take to the field while the National Anthem was played before a dozen preseason games across the country.
