Mauricio Pochettino says his side are BOLD for not signing anyone

Spurs are the first side in Premier League history not to complete a signing during the summer transfer window, sparking disquiet from fans.

Pochettino has labelled the club "brave" for their stance, stating his satisfaction at securing new deals for players including Harry Kane and Hueng-min Son. "It was hard for everybody and for us too".

Sources close to negotiations claim a £25million deal from the London club was never formally submitted, with the only official offer - made last month when Villa were battling a cash crisis - being a player-plus-cash offer of £3million and midfielder Josh Onomah.

"The club is doing an incredible effort to try to finish the stadium as soon as possible, and the lodge finished at the training ground".

"Building a stadium that is almost £1 billion". That is true, don't believe in £400m, that is the truth.

"And then with Brexit it is worse because the cost is 30% more, and then keep the best players".

"For me [that] is to be courageous".

"Maybe in the mind of everyone they will say "oh Tottenham didn't sign anyone", but to sign for the sake of signing?"

North Korea accuses U.S. of 'spreading falsehoods' in damming statement
It accused U.S. negotiators of going against the intentions of President Donald Trump and the spirit of the summit in Singapore. Among the agreements was holding another inter-Korean summit in the fall in Pyongyang.

"Of course we didn't sell players and with 25 players in the squad it's hard to add".

"We believe a lot in our players and there's no point now to say 'why not repeat a similar season like previous year or the season before, and with more experience?' It's a courageous decision".

Premier League returns this weekend and Tottenham Hotspur kick-off the 2018/19 campaign with a trip to St James' Park to take on Newcastle United on Saturday.

"I don't feel the panic".

Speaking about any possible incomings, the Tottenham manager said in a press conference: "I think it's so hard now". You need to be clever in how you settle your principles, your strategy and to try to win.

"We have a very good squad, with very good players and it is very hard to add players to that", Pochettino added. It is important to be professional, to have commitment, with the team, with the club, with yourself, full commitment until the end.

But he urged them to knuckle down if they remain for the season, saying: "If all the players today are thinking in a collective target, we can be competitive".

On how people interpreted his comments at the end of last season, Pochettino added: "I am responsible for what I told you or what I tell you but I can not be responsible for what you believe that I wanted to tell you". "That is the key this season".
