‘Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’ adds popular characters from ‘Castlevania’ and ‘Donkey Kong’

There are now 103 maps planned for Ultimate, including the newly added Dracula's Castle from Castlevania and New Donk City Hall from Super Mario Odyssey.

In addition to Simon, you can also play as Richter Belmont from Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. Simon wields the Vampire Killer and some of the original Castlevania's sub weapons, and his whip has full control and longer reach than any other regular attack.

The Direct opened with an announcement that nearly wasn't a surprise: Simon Belmont, the protagonist of the original 1986 Castlevania, is joining the fray in Ultimate, complete with his trademark axe, holy water, cross-shaped boomerang, and health-restoring pot roasts.

Nintendo needed to make up some ground after fans were left aghast following the announcement of Luigi's death. Ultimate all launching within three months of one another.

Additionally, Chrom from the Fire Emblem franchise and Dark Samus from the Metroid series were announced as echo fighters. Echo fighters can be displayed as separate fighters on the character select screen or stacked on top of the character they are echoing. More characters will be announced in the future.

Around 900 songs, or 28 hours of music, are a part of this game's massive library. Could this be the return of a full story/adventure mode?

A Squad Strike mode will allow players to do battle in 5 vs 5 or 3 vs 3 formats, and as always all game play options can be enjoyed on-the-go.

Tournament support has returned, with up to 32 entrants each.

N64 version stages were created to keep the old school style. Ultimate has 103. Or roughly triple that if you count all the Battlefield and Final Destination versions of each stage. No two final smashes will be able to be unleashed at the same time. Ultimate. Each fighter has a set of stages and opponents that she or he will face.

The main menu has a mysterious mode yet to be revealed, and a righthand notification bar.
