Manchester United linked with shock deadline day move for Diego Godin

Though the Uruguay global was flattered by United's interest he has opted to stay at Atletico.

And The Sun say Manchester United manager Mourinho is livid at Godin's agent, who he believes led the club on.

With Godin snubbing the Red Devils, Leicester not willing to budge on their stance with regard to Maguire and Alderweireld's move dependent on Spurs being able to bringing in a replacement before the deadline, a new defender arriving at the Old Trafford before the window closes is starting to look highly improbable.

Manchester United are on the lookout for defensive reinforcements.

Godin's agent supposedly approached United this week about a deal for his client.

The 32-year-old was reportedly offered a deal worth £8 million-a-year at Old Trafford but Godin turned down the opportunity in favour of a new contract at Atletico.

United had offered to pay his release clause and £150,000 a week but Godin is intrinsic to Diego Simeone's plans and settled in Madrid.

It means United will have to contend with what they now have.

When Urban pointed out his bodyguard, Reed "just went to pieces" and asked if she could take a picture with him. Really? Then where's Nicole? When she told him that, the man said, well, he is Keith Urban.

Defensively the club now have Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo, who has been linked with a switch to Everton, as the centre back options.

Jose Mourinho had, earlier today, confirmed that United would not be making any more signings.

The fanbase if starting to grow exhausted of the 55-year-old and a first title challenge since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement seems to be a must.

He said: "I'm not confident, I'm not confident and the market closes today so is time at least for me to stop thinking about the market because the market will be closed".

United have also been tipped to make Ivan Perisic their fourth signing of the summer.

"I have to focus on the players I have and the next few matches".

But Express Sport understands there is no chance of the Croatia global moving to Old Trafford.
