Hurricane Hector tracks toward Hawaii

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said Ileana had maximum sustained winds of 45 mph (75 kph) and was centred about 165 miles (265 kilometres) south-southwest of Puerto Escondido.

It is a Category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. CPHC forecasters also note a well defined eye surrounded by a large ring of cloud tops. A 1111 UTC AMSR2 microwave overpass shows a double eyewall structure with the inner eyewall open to the southwest. Some fluctuations in intensity are expected tonight and Monday.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km).

Two of Mother Nature's most potentially devastating forces - a major hurricane and an erupting volcano - appear headed for a close encounter on Hawaii's Big Island next week, weather forecasters said on Friday. "Now is a good time for everyone in the Hawaiian Islands to ensure that they have their hurricane plan in place", it said.

The hurricane is moving westward or 275/10 kt. west-northwestward motion is expected over the next day or so as Hector is steered by a deep-layer ridge to its north.

Rick Gates Set to Testify Against Ex-Boss Paul Manafort
Similar to prior witnesses, Laporta testified that Gates and Manafort were in lockstep but that Manafort was in charge. Those admissions are likely to become a focal point for Manafort's defence team when he is cross examined on Tuesday.

Hurricane Hector updated track as of 11 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018. The storm is located about 1,360 miles east of South Point, Hawaii, located on the Big Island.

Marks described Hector as a "compact but powerful" storm.

"The track of the hurricane still has the center passing well south of the main Hawaiian island at this time", Brink said Sunday morning.

A tropical storm watch is in effect for the Big Island of Hawaii due to the the chance for winds of 39 miles per hour or stronger on Wednesday. She says there could also be a few inches of rain into Thursday as Hector passes the island.
