The Live-Action Star Wars Show Will Reportedly Be Very Expensive

ESPN's highly profitable operation has been under pressure in recent years as consumers cut the cord and flock to such streaming services as Netflix and Amazon Prime video.

Disney raised its offer for the assets in June from $52.4bn to $71.3bn and also for the first time made an alternative available to Fox shareholders who would rather receive cash instead of Disney shares.

According to the article, Disney and Lucasfilm are spending roughly $100 million for 10 episodes of the Jon Favreau live-action series.

Expect more details about the lifespan of Marvel movies on Netflix as Disney gets closer to launching the service, and also keep an eye on if Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 get their full 18-month tenure on the service...

Disney recently secured the rights to X-Men from FOX, and will have to go through AT&T for streaming rights to Star Wars.
