9-year-old robbed at lemonade stand in Monroe

Authorities are looking for a teenager who allegedly held up a child's lemonade stand at gunpoint.

According to the Union County Sheriff's Office, they are pursuing leads in connection with a robbery that happened near the entrance to St. John's Forest in Monroe around 3:00 p.m. Saturday.

Fox News reports that the suspect was described as "a black male teen wearing a camouflage hat and black shirt".

- Deputies in Union County are investigating an armed robbery of a 9-year-old boy's lemonade stand.

Neighbour Kelly Smith said the robbery was "heart-wrenching", adding: "That little boy will never be the same".

It's reported he got away with the child's earnings of $17. "I think people are capable of a lot of things but not robbing a child at a lemonade stand".

David Smith was selling cool drinks in his North Carolina housing development to raise money for his landscaping business.

Investigators said they recovered a metal tin, camo hat and black BB gun in a wooded area near the neighborhood.

The police have been unable to locate the suspect so far.

"I'm often seeing the young man selling organic lemonade", resident Robert Pendleton told WSOC-TV.
