Kante has cemented himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in world football after three hugely impressive seasons in the Premier League, first with Leicester City and then with Chelsea.

Kante has been offered a new five-year contract reportedly worth a club-record £290,000 a week, nearly double his current salary of £150,000.

Kante played a key role in the French side that lifted the World Cup in Russian Federation, which has sparked serious interest in his services.

His exploits for club and country have seem to have piqued the interest of PSG.

Thomas Tuchel is eager to bring some of his own players in to the club after he was appointed manager earlier in the summer, with only Gianluigi Buffon joining on a free transfer so far.

Juventus defender Daniele Rugani - who Sarri worked with at Empoli - is also a priority as they continue negotiations with the Serie A champions. New manager Maurizio Sarri sees the 31-time capped French global as a key cog in his side heading into the 2018-19 campaign.

The pocket-sized 27-year-old dynamo ― who recovered the ball more often than any other team-mate during the finals in Russian Federation ― will earn £290,000 (RM1.5 million) a week if he signs the new deal, reported The Times and the London Evening Standard. In the current Chelsea squad, Eden Hazard is the highest earner with a £220,000-a-week deal which expires in June 2020.

However, the deal is unlikely to happen this summer with the transfer window in the Premier League closing soon and the lack of time for United to find a replacement likely to prove prohibitive.
