Tendulkar backs Kuldeep to shine in England tests

Tendulkar backs Kuldeep to shine in England tests

"I believe whichever bowlers will play - like Umesh (Yadav) is doing well, Ishant (Sharma) is a senior bowler and has to take more lead (role) and Mohammed Shami has a good record - I believe their (Bhuvi and Bumrah's) absence will be felt, but still India's bench strength is very strong", the former Indian bowling spearhead said.

Cape Town - England fast bowler James Anderson feels that Virat Kohli was not entirely honest when he claimed that it doesn't matter if he gets runs or not.

"One example that I was part of. we had gone to play in Toronto against Pakistan and we were without (Javagal) Srinath, Venkatesh Prasad and (Anil) Kumble, who were our three frontline bowlers", Tendulkar said.

The fifth-ranked Test side England have failed to win any of their last three series with just one match won as top-ranked India would fancy their chances. "Well I don't like bowling to any one of them to be honest", he replied with a smile.

The men in blue so far had a mixed tour to England, after winning the T20I series 2-1, the visitors were blanked in the ODI series 1-2 despite leading it after the first game.

Aaron Ramsey unsure over new contract
The Welshman's current deal expires at the end of next season but remained somewhat tight-lipped when quizzed about a new deal.

When the Indian captain was asked about his personal goals for the tour, he had replied, "It doesn't matter whether I get runs or don't". Will India have to depend more on pace than spin if they are to win the series?

Touring England in the second half ot the summer is an advantage because the wicket and weather conditions are more suitable for the Indians. They do not appear to have the potential wicket-takers with the new ball. "They have covered all bases nicely and I think it will be closely fought Test series", Stewart concluded. Now Kuldeep's wrist action is a complex one and once he lands the ball, I don't think too many batsmen in world cricket have got the ability to tackle him off the pitch. "The keeper's contribution also becomes important in batting and we have that", said the 45-year-old, who accumulated more than 34,000 runs and 100 centuries in a 24-year career that came to an end in 2013.

Azhar also hailed the current Indian team as the fittest ever. "Accepted that it's not a great thing to go into a big series without your key player but then you just have to move on and focus on your job ahead", Tendulkar said.

Ishant also said that unlike the subcontinent, the English conditions are very much favourable for pace bowling as the bowlers can bowl longer spells.

"I don't know what happened". In the past, India haven't always travelled well and the last time (2014), I wasn't even sure they wanted to be here.
