Flash Flood Watch In Effect For Most Of Maryland

A Flash Flood watch will be in effect through Monday evening in Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, Lehigh, Northampton, Berks, Lancaster and DE counties in Pennsylvania, as well as New Castle and Kent Counties in Delaware.

Off and on showers and storms with locally heavy downpours are likely for Tuesday and Wednesday. With the ground already saturated, it won't take much additional rain to produce localized flooding, especially in areas of poor drainage and along smaller streams and creeks.

A low temperature around 70 degrees is forecast for Wednesday night. Rain will come off and on in waves through the day so we will have some periods of dry weather and a chance of some sunshine peaking through and periods of heavy downpours.

The upper-level low which prompted several rounds of strong thunderstorms over the weekend is spinning around just to our west this morning and it will meander close by for at least the first half of the week.

The severe weather expected Monday follows a Sunday that saw strong storms leading to power outages in Palm Beach County and flight delays at some area airports.

Severe-weather warning extended to Broward County

Mostly cloudy skies continue with a daily chance of rain and storms. In Broward there were weather-related flight delays at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. An approaching cold front also helps keep the rain chances alive, but it does finally bring us a break once it crosses through the region.

More try time arrives for the end of the week and the weekend, but there will be shower and storm chances. Temperatures are in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

That means we have a better chance for rain each of the next few days.

Recent showers and thunderstorms are saturating soils, increasing the risk for flooding, forecasters say.
