TMZ: Demi Lovato rushed to hospital for heroin overdose

Singer Demi Lovato was reportedly hospitalized in Southern California on Tuesday after a heroin overdose.

Singer Demi Lovato was taken to hospital after a suspected overdose, according to reports.

A former Disney child star, Lovato has been open about her struggles with addiction as well as depression and eating disorders.

The singer has fought substance abuse for years. Her condition isn't known, but TMZ reports that she's being treated with Narcan, which is a "medication created to rapidly reverse opioid overdose".

In June, however, she released the song "Sober", which revealed she had relapsed.

Just hours before her hospitalisation, Lovato posted a made-up selfie to her Instagram page, which she made a decision to leave without a caption.

"Demi relapsed and started drinking alcohol again", a source said.

She is now receiving treatment, according to the gossip site.

A month ago, Lovato released a new single called Sober.

However, despite an impressive performance on American Idol in 2012, the reality was she was hungover and vomited in the auto on the way to the studios after a bender.

She added: "I was either craving drugs or on drugs". She chronicled her daily struggles with recovery in the 2017 YouTube original documentary "Simply Complicated". Thank God. If I know my monsters as well as I believe I do, we all wish you self-compassion and inner peace.

"But I did it anyways, and I loved it the first time that I did it".

Country star Brad Paisley, who has collaborated with Lovato, tweeted that the pop star "is one of the kindest, most talented people I've ever met".

It is being reported that her friends administered Narcan before she was taken to the hospital. "It breaks my heart that she is going through this".

Lovato, who was a regular on "Barney & Friends" filmed in North Texas, attended Grapevine High School and Cross Timbers Middle School, where she shot her music video for the hit song "Waitin For You".
