TMZ: Demi Lovato hospitalized for overdose

In June, Lovato released a new single titled "Sober", in which she admitted suffering a relapse.

Demi Lovato was hospitalized on Tuesday in Los Angeles after a suspected heroin overdose.

A Los Angeles police department spokesperson declined to name the individual who was transported to a local hospital. According to Lovato's website, upcoming tour dates have been rescheduled. But contrary to TMZ's reports, a source close to the star tells ET Canada it was not a heroin related overdose.

The singer is a five-time People's Choice Award victor and also boasts 13 Teen Choice Awards and gongs from the MTV Video Music Awards and the Latin Music Awards. "Paramedics found Demi unconscious when they arrived at her home", reads one of the outlet's latest updates, posted at 4:48 p.m.

The celebrity-news site reported later Tuesday that Kerissa Webb Dunn, her aunt and charity co-director, had said the singer was "awake and responsive".

TMZ alleges, per sources, that Lovato has "been struggling" leading up to Thursday's appearance.

"She grabs the pills and downs them all and says 'you f***ing bitch". Luckily, the Narcan worked and she will recover'. "It's basically like a therapy session before the concerts and we have speakers from all over, and we're also helping out with different charities from around the country, so it'll be incredible and a very moving and inspiring experience", Demi told Good Morning America in January.

Ariana Grande wrote, "i love u @ddlovato". All we can do is send our best wishes and love.

The star recently took to social media to thank the people who have never left her side in throughout her turbulent battle.

"I love you @ddlovato and I'm praying for your strength and health", Emmy Rossum added.

She was also scheduled to perform at Echo Beach at Budweiser Stage in Toronto on Sunday, July 29 with Jason Mraz.

Late past year, Ms Lovato released a second documentary about her career and life. Although she said in March that she was six years sober, an insider for People says she wasn't completely "clean" during that time.
