Secret Trump-Cohen tape revealed

Secret Trump-Cohen tape revealed

The tape, made two months before the 2016 presidential election, captures Trump discussing a potential payment for a former Playboy model's account of having an affair with him.

On Wednesday, a seething Trump lashed out, tweeting: "What kind of a lawyer would tape a client?"

On the tape, Trump and Cohen talk about buying the rights to McDougal's story, which she had sold a month earlier to the National Enquirer for $150,000. So sad! Is this a first, never heard of it before?

"I need to open up a company for the transfer of all of that info regarding our friend David", Cohen is heard saying on the tape-which CNN points out is likely a reference to American Media head David Pecker.

Davis told Cuomo the tape clearly shows that it's Trump who says "cash" and declared, "Richard Nixon couldn't spin the tape that did him in, and there's no way that Mr. Giuliani, who knows from being U.S. Attorney, the only people who use cash are drug dealers and mobsters".

Trump suggested Wednesday that the tape cuts off when he was "presumably saying positive things" and that other clients and reporters were taped by Cohen.

Giuliani provided a transcript to CNN that Trump told Cohen, "Don't pay with cash. check".

Karlie Kloss engaged to Joshua Kushner: 'I can't wait for forever'
Despite his family connections to the Trump family, it seems unlikely that Kushner shares many of their political views. In the same interview, she shed light on her decision to keep her relationship with Kushner relatively private.

Over the past couple of days, there have been some questions raised about why Giuliani hadn't been challenging the release of this recording between Trump and his then-lawyer Cohen on grounds that it is covered by attorney-client privilege. Davis does acknowledge that Trump used the word "check" toward the end of the tape.

The tape captures the soon-to-be president and his lawyer discussing logistics of financing and whether to "pay with cash", although the sound is muffled and Trump's instructions on that are unclear. She says she had an affair with Mr. Trump more than a decade ago, which the president denies.

McDougal's lawyer, Peter Stris, said Tuesday evening that the recording proves just the opposite. However, the new audio recording makes that claim suspicious.

Giuliani contended that the recording would not harm Trump after news broke last week in The New York Times that the recording of Trump and Cohen was among those obtained by prosecutors.

There has been no comment from President Trump at this time.

Davis, however, said there's "more to come" on this scandal.
